| Parent/Guardian Request to Limit Library Book Access |
| Books are selected for the BSHS library collection based on circulation data, favorable reviews by professional sources, student or staff requests, etc. Not every book in the library has been read in advance of its inclusion in the collection. With this in mind, |
| The “Limit Access” does provide: |
- parents/guardians with a mechanism to indicate their preferences regarding the check-out of a select category of print library books to their student(s).
- a mechanism for staff to know whether a book is classified under a specific “Limit Access” category.
- a process to reduce the likelihood that a student with a “Limit Access” request will be exposed to content from the titles classified with a specific category.
The “Limit Access” does not guarantee:
- library materials classified under specific categories will directly align to family morals and beliefs.
- a student will not pull a book off a shelf and look at it.
- a student will not be exposed to or hear about content from a classmate.
- that all books have been categorized accordingly.
