Work Permits/Opportunities

How to Obtain a Work Permit:

Please complete the work permit application. The student must then submit the completed application along with a copy of (1) of the following documents:

     *Birth Certificate
     *Driver's License
     *Passport

Documents may be submitted in person to the Counseling Office or emailed to to Mrs. Ilaria at [email protected]

Please note
Work permits cannot be processed on the spot. Applications may be submitted to the Counseling Office or directly to Mrs. Ilaria. Once the work permit has been processed, the student or parent/guardian will receive an email notification when it is ready for pickup. Work permits must be picked up with the student present.

Completed work permits may be picked up during regular school hours, no later than the end of the school day each week.

Important Information Under the current Pennsylvania Child Labor Act, the issuing officer may deny or revoke a work permit if it is determined that employment during the school year would interfere with the student’s ability to maintain adequate academic achievement.

Academic achievement considerations include:

     *Grades
     *Attendance
     *Behavior

The issuing officer and South Middleton School District retain the authority to deny or revoke a permit if, in their judgment, a student is unable to successfully balance employment and school responsibilities.
